"a network error has occurred" is one of the most frequent error in the webmail.
Most of the time, it's because there are too many requests (especially logins with errors) coming from a single IP and this IP is being banned by Zimbra for some time.
You should check the setup of the DOSfilter and/or whitelist some IPs (if all users go through a proxy for example).
